For me, my role in the career coaching process is one which helps you to progress to a greater sense of fulfilment in your life. I help you identify the job or vocation which you will love, and which will bring about personal growth.

Initially, you will need to answer the big picture questions about your passions, your needs and your legacy. We then move on to the technical aspects of writing CVs, interview preparation and job search.

How Do You Identify Your Dream Career?

Maybe you’re not committed to your current career or lack the drive to take things further. You might be good at your role, but it drains you emotionally. You could have climbed the greasy pole and achieved everything you wanted, but still feel hollow inside. Or you might be fresh out of University with little clue about what to do next.

If you’re nodding your head to any of this, then career coaching might be for you. It is a journey of self-discovery and a process of holding the mirror up to yourself. I will help you discover your ideal career by not just listening to what you say but also to what you don’t say. I will challenge your preconceived ideas and re-frame some of the views about what you are able to achieve.

Typically, one-on-one sessions last for 60 minutes, and take place at least once every fortnight. However, these sessions can be more or less frequent based on your own needs. In the initial sessions, we establish your goals and the ambitions that you have in life. There may also be an assessment to identify your strengths.

We will definitely look at your values to understand who you really are as a person. This is crucial to ensure that you don’t return to a pattern of working in unfulfilling roles. The greater the difference between your values and how you are living your life, the greater the urgency to create change.

We produce a plan to create the career you want. We then identify the steps you will need to take to get there. Each session ends with specific actions for you to take which will bring you closer to your goals. I will be a sounding board for all your ideas. I will also hold you accountable to ensure you are doing what has been agreed.

Commitment and accountability are key parts of the coaching process. They provide the basis for you to achieve progress with your aspirations. If you do not show commitment or you are not held accountable, this can also be a key reason why coaching might fail.

How Does A Career Coach Help You Get the Job?

You need to be aware of the different methods of job search. Understanding how recruitment agencies operate, or how you can make the most effective use of online job sites may just put you one step ahead of the next person.
