Martin Bennett of MJB CoachingHello, my name is Martin Bennett. I hold a Level 7 Life Coaching Diploma, accredited by the International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring, and I have a passion for coaching through a holistic approach. This involves exploring both the personal and professional aspects of your life. My own professional background gives me a strong foundation on which to coach people through difficult situations.

I truly believe that you can do anything that you want to if you have the right guidance and support. The things that can prevent this are very complex. It is enough to say that a range of societal, familial and internal factors can impact a person’s ability to live as they want and in a way that is true to themselves.

I also believe that the gap between the lives that some people lead and their inner lives is a hidden cause in a lot of unhappiness in the world. The most inspiring people are those who live the lives that they choose, and who are open and honest about their motivations but also see a challenge where others see constraints.

My Coaching Background

Prior to achieving my Coaching Diploma, I had a long career in HR Management in both the public and private sectors, starting out in 1998. This included working overseas for 3 years in Australia. I have been a full member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) since 2001. I also hold an MSc in Human Resource Management, and a LLB (Honours) Law degree.

I have coached managers to handle a range of employee relations situations, and I have also acted as a mentor to employees who were facing redundancy. I make use of this background to offer HR Consultancy as well as Life Coaching, Career Coaching and Business Coaching services.

My working life was interrupted in 2005. I set out on a long period of travel in Asia and Australasia. This added to previous time that I had spent in South America and Europe. In addition to living and working in 3 distinct areas of the U.K., these experiences enabled me to appreciate both the similarities as well as the differences between people and cultures. It showed me new perspectives. I was able to see more clearly that different things drive different people.

My Motivation

On a personal level, I am down to earth, and I am very good at seeing others’ point of view. I am passionate about finding the right path in life, and about pursuing personal development.

Over the years, I have always tried to get out of my comfort zone. This includes singing in a band, sky diving and abseiling to raise money for charity. I have also acted in amateur plays, and ran a number of half marathons and marathons. Also, I continue, when I can, to travel to destinations off the beaten track.

I continually seek to challenge both myself and the way that I think. Most importantly, I am the father of two beautiful young daughters. They provide me with my ongoing inspiration, and they are a constant reminder to help other people.
